A Hidden Slab with a Cross

Then came the surprise. Under the rubble lay a second, older marble slab. It was broken, and a small cross was carved into its surface.
Nobody knew it was there. At first, some experts thought it might come from the Crusader period, around 900 years ago.
The cross suggested the slab had been placed there by Christians who knew how holy the spot was. Its true age, however, would only be known after lab tests.
